New! Cancellations Procedures
Daylongs: If you call 415-488-0164 x234, or send a fax to 415-488-1025 to cancel and request a credit by 5pm two business days preceding a daylong, we will credit your registration fee towards another non-residential event. Benefits: If you call or fax (see above for numbers) Spirit Rock's Front Office to cancel your registration 3 weeks prior to a benefit for which you've registered, you may receive either a refund or a credit toward a future non-residential event less a processing fee of $25 (unless otherwise noted in the confirmation letter for the benefit.) If you cancel less than three weeks in advance, you may receive a 50% refund or a full credit (minus the $25 processing fee .)
All credits must be used within one year of their date of issue. In order to use a credit, you must pre-register for the event. Credits are not transferable to residential retreats.

- In consideration of
sangha members with allergies, asthma, and environmental sensitivities, please do not wear scented personal care products (including "natural" products) in the meditation hall.
- Bring your own
cup to Spirit Rock events and save a paper cup!
- Continuing
Education Units (CEUs) Some daylongs meet the qualifications for continuing education for MFT's and LCSW's as required by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences, provider #PCE1851. To receive 6 CEU credits, please add $25 (per day) to the registration fee and mark the memo line of your check CEU. How Daylong, Class & Benefit Registration Works
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for daylong events. If you have registered, we will notify you if a program is canceled. Pre-registration is especially important for daylongs that include lunch; it ensures you will get lunch. You may register online for most daylongs.
How Residential Retreat Registration Works
Registration opens four months before a retreat begins (for longer retreats of 4-8 weeks, registration opens six months prior to the start of the retreat ).
There are now 2 ways of registering for a residential retreat:
- Call the
retreat infoline extension (415-488-0164 + infoline ext) after the open date. Leave your name, address, phone number, and the number of reservation forms you need (one per retreatant) .
- (Web-version) Download the
registration reservation and liability waiver as a PDF from the calendar listing for the retreat you would like to attend. (Go to the monthly calendars to find the retreat description). Remember each retreat has a different registrar and different costs associated with it, you need the form for the retreat you want to attend. Print out the registration and liability form, fill it out and mail to the registrar with your deposit (payable to SRMC). You need Acrobat Reader to open the PDF. To download a free copy of the reader, click here
If you have called the registrar, you will receive a reservation form by mail. Fill it out and send it and your deposit (payable to SRMC) to the registrar in the envelope provided.
Once registered, you will receive a confirmation package. Please read it! Please note: Your space is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation letter or a call from the registrar.
If you are registering late, call the retreat infoline and follow the instructions given .
Cancellations & Refunds
There is a $25 non-refundable cancellation fee, with all cancellation fees going to the Mudita Scholarship Fund. If you cancel four to six weeks before the retreat, the fee is half of your initial deposit . There is no refund if you cancel four weeks or less before the retreat or if you leave the retreat early.
Financial Assistance and Scholarships
Our intention is to make residential retreats available to as many as we can. We do everything we can to keep costs low, but we also need a balanced budget. Financial help for residential retreats is provided in the following ways:
- Deferred Payment Plan:
You can pay for the retreat over time, with payments made via monthly deductions from your bank account. Ask the retreat registrar to send you this form.
- All individuals who need
financial assistance are encouraged to apply for a Mudita or Karuna Scholarship. Send in your deposit (as of March, 2004, we require a minimum deposit of $10 per retreat night) and call us to request a Mudita Scholarship Fund form. Fill out and return to the address on the form. Scholarship allocations are made four weeks before the retreat begins.
- The Karuna Scholarship
Fund is only for individuals with life-threatening illnesses whose financial situation prevents them from attending retreats. Ask the retreat registrar for an application form (you do not need to send in a deposit).
- People of Color
Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund is specifically for non-Caucasians. To apply for the scholarship call 415-488-0164 x312.
Lotteries
For retreats where we expect demand to exceed available space, a lottery is used to select retreatants. The lottery takes place four months before the retreat begins and includes all deposits received by that date. Deposits are only accepted after the retreat open date. We notify you by mail three weeks after the lottery about your status. (Commuter spaces are opened if residential spaces are filled .)
- To register for a lottery retreat:
- Call the infoline for
the retreat for registration information .
- Send a $150 deposit
payable to SRMC to Spirit Rock Registrar, PO Box 909, Woodacre, CA 94973. Please, only one deposit per person per envelope.
- Mark the dates of the
retreat on the check.
Note: For those who have applied for the same lottery retreat two or more times before and have not made it in, you will now be automatically included. When you send in your deposit for the lottery retreat, please include a note stating the years you have not been selected (example: "not selected in 2001 or 2002 New Year's retreat lottery"). Once confirmed with our records, we will let you bypass the lottery .
If you have any questions, please call the info-line for that retreat. The registrar will respond to messages left on the info-line, but it may be a few days before h/she can get back to you. Calls are handled in the order received. Once the lottery has taken place, it may take up to three weeks for the reservation form , which is mailed via the post office, to reach you. Please do not call the Spirit Rock front office.
